Transforming Legal Marketing Through Athlete Partnerships

What Is NIL for Lawyers?

NIL for Lawyers is an innovative marketing initiative by Bold South Sports that connects law firms with collegiate athletes for unique promotional opportunities. Leveraging the athletes' Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) rights, this program offers law firms a fresh avenue to amplify their brand, engage with new audiences, and stand out in a competitive market.

The Process:

1

Initial Consultation and Strategy Development

  • Objective: Understand the law firm’s marketing goals, target audience, services, strengths, vulnerabilities, vision, and budget.

  • Action: Schedule an in-person or virtual meeting with the firm. Discuss and document all relevant aspects to tailor a suitable NIL marketing strategy.

2

Athlete Selection and Proposal

  • Objective: Match the firm with the right athlete(s) based on the initial consultation.

  • Action: Present the firm with a curated list of potential athlete partners. This list can include athletes represented by Bold South Sports or any other athletes the firm is interested in. Firms can provide specific names or let BSS suggest the best fits.

3

Target Prioritization and Offer Negotiation

  • Objective: Prioritize the chosen athletes and negotiate the terms of the partnership.

  • Action: Once the firm agrees on preferred athlete targets, Bold South Sports will initiate contact with the athletes or their agents. BSS handles all aspects of the negotiation, keeping the firm updated and involved as needed.

4

Deal Finalization and Content Creation

  • Objective: Finalize the deal and produce the agreed-upon deliverables.

  • Action: After confirming the partnership, BSS coordinates with the athlete to create content or prepare for the deliverable (e.g., social media posts, appearances). The law firm will have the opportunity to review and approve all content before it goes live or is finalized.

5

Content Approval, Payment, and Execution

  • Objective: Ensure content meets the firm’s standards, handle payments, and oversee content release.

  • Action:

    • Content Approval: Law firm reviews and approves the content.

    • Payment Processing: Once approved, BSS handles payments to the athlete, including managing all tax-related documentation.

    • Content Posting: BSS can either manage the posting of content on the firm’s social media channels or provide the assets to the firm’s marketing team for distribution.

    • Execution: The athlete executes the deliverable as agreed – whether it's posting content on their social channels, making appearances, etc.
